On September 14, 2023, NSFC Vice President Dr. Lan Yujie met with the delegation led by Dr. Pema Gyamtsho, Director General of the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD).

Dr. Lan Yujie welcomed the delegation and expressed his appreciation for the achievements made by ICIMOD in fostering knowledge sharing and improving the lives of mountain people of the eight number countries of the Pan Himalayan Regions, and introduced the progress of NSFC on strengthening its international cooperation.

Dr. Pema Gyamtsho introduced the progress of ICIMOD Strategy 2030 and its related action plans, expressed the willingness to strengthen bilateral cooperation with NSFC to promote scientific cooperation between Chinese scientists with the scientists from ICIMOD and the Pan Himalayan Regions, and to nurture young talents in the field of mountain sustainable development.

Dr. Zhang Yongtao, Deputy Director General of NSFC’s Bureau of International Cooperation, Dr. Yi Shaoliang, ICIMOD biodiversity expert, Dr. Su Lijun, Secretary General of the China Committee of ICIMOD and other officials attended the meeting.
